Once separated from the Kruger National Park by fences, Thornybush Nature Reserve is now part of one of Africa’s most celebrated conservation success stories – the Greater Kruger ecosystem.
Sharing an unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve is world-renowned for its exceptional leopard sightings and Big Five encounters.
Thornybush Nature Reserve and Sabi Sand Nature Reserve both lie along the western edge of the Kruger National Park, forming part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem with no fences between them. Sabi Sand sits to the south, bordering Kruger along the Sabie River, while Thornybush is positioned slightly further north, adjacent to Kruger near Hoedspruit.
Although they are separate private reserves, they are relatively close to one another and share the same open wilderness, allowing wildlife to move freely across all three areas.
